With the goal of continuing the early winter cadence of hikes that included Apgar and Huckleberry Lookouts, co-coordinators Greg Adams and Mike Contrada set out with Kim Ursery, Katie Marsonette, Dona Gans, Carolyn Remmel, Charlotte Jansson, Joe Schmidt, and Jean Petrangelo to attain the highpoint on Demers Ridge. There had been a recent snowfall and no one had preceded us on the trail, so we began taking turns breaking trail. The snow became deeper as we approached the saddle below the last pitch to the ridge and, even with snowshoes, we found ourselves sinking deep. When we got to the saddle, we decided to eat lunch and return. It took us 4 hours to go little over 2 miles. Despite the effort, everyone enjoyed the sunny day and the great views into the Glacier Park along the way. Have some photos from this event that you'd like to share in our photo album? Please forward them to Tim Anderson at twamontana@gmail.com. Please note that we prefer to receive the photos in approximately 640x480 or 750x500 pixels - do NOT send original high-res photos. If you have a LOT of photos, please submit up to twenty of your favorites (only) for a day event, or up to forty of your favourites for a multi-day event. Thank you. |
