Strawberry Mountain is misleading, Its such a little thing and you are on trail most of the way, yet its is a lot work to reach the summit. Its only 1/3 of a mile with 500feet of elevation from the point where you leave the trail. But its a bushwhack worthy of Greg Notess. You fight for every foot of that elevation.

The four of us met at the Strawberry Lake trail head at 9am. It was a very gray morning with a fog bank stuck on mountains left from the previous two days of rain. The hike to the lake went fast. Then a short trip on Alpine trail 7 to the ridge line. The fog was still holding on and the brush was soaked with water it might as well have been raining, within a few feet we were soaked to the skin. It took us about an hour and a half to claw our way through and reach the summit. At the summit we found the biggest mountain goat I have ever seen. About this time the winds came up and blew the fog away and we were treated with wonderful views. All the way the fall colors were spectacular.
