Write Up:
It could not have been a more beautiful fall day for this Bitterroot excursion. The Western Larch were in full, almost iridescent gold. We should have started earlier as we reached Knaack lake and realized the summit would involve a trip out past light. We were satisfied reaching the beautiful upper lake and enjoying lunch. Spectacular sunshine graced the looming summit of Castle Crag. A significant blowdown on the approach trail also caused more of a delay than expected. Climbers included GMS members Dori Gilels, Mark Blevins, with Gail and Dell Meuchel. TRM participants included Candy Hartman and Tom Startz. A great group to end our fall climbing adventure
