Rocky Mountain Peak, Sawtooth Range of the Rocky Mountains. (Elevation 9392 feet) July 27, 2023 Glacier Mountaineering Society mountaineers: David Schuler, Dennis Eaves, and Jason Wilkes hiked and climbed Rocky Mountain Peak. Rocky Mountain is the highpoint of the Sawtooth Range, a part of Montana's spectacular and wild Rocky Mountain Front, and the highpoint of the entire Bob Marshall Wilderness. Started at the South Fork of the Teton trailhead, trail 165 and hiked up to Headquarters Pass to the Southwest side of the mountain and up to the saddle between Rocky and peak 8752 and scrambled up the side to the summit. We are descending on the scree field to the northeast side back down the trail and out. Total of 8.8 miles with 3827 feet of elevation gain. It was weather perfect day with no wind and cool.
