A cloudy, early-season climb found plenty of snow along the ridge top. We all eschewed snowshoes and mostly found hard snow that supported us. However, while the clouds sometimes lifted to give us great views, at other times they obscured where the ridge went. That caused us to go a short ways down an arm towards Camas Creek until we got an unexpected view and thought to check our devices. We went back up the arm and continued on to the actual high point, only to be fully enshrouded in clouds on the top. We has a few nice views on the way back, and a nice glissade down one of the steeper slopes along the ridge on the way out. Beautiful grizzly tracks in the snow, but we never did see a bear.
Great training climb with a great group! Have some photos from this event that you'd like to share in our photo album? Please forward them to Tim Anderson at twamontana@gmail.com. Please note that we prefer to receive the photos in approximately 640x480 or 750x500 pixels - do NOT send original high-res photos. If you have a LOT of photos, please submit up to twenty of your favorites (only) for a day event, or up to forty of your favourites for a multi-day event. Thank you. |
