Wow. Absolutely stellar day to bag the highpoint of the Whitefish range. Our group went from 15 to 3 after a reshedule to take advantage of better weather. While I am sorry that the reschedule didn't work for many people, it was essentially the perfect day to do this hike. Clear skies, perfect hiking temps, not many other people. We hit the alpine larch color change pretty much at peak, and the larch really stood out against the bright blue sky. We made the trip up to the top of Lake Mountain, where the trail to Nasukoin laid out before us, with the peaks of the Lewis Range as a stunning backdrop. Fresh snow cloaked some of the more prominent peaks, a reminder that winter will be here before you know it. This was the perfect end to my 2025 GMS season, and I already am thinking about my 2026 trips. Thanks to Fred and Tricia for making the trip with me. A splendid day, even though coordinator forgot his cooler, so no post-hike refreshments :(
