Write Up:
Twelve GMS members set out under sunny skies from the Swiftcurrent Inn, ascending the south couloir of Mt. Henkel. After climbing the first two cliff bands, the large snow fields remaining in the upper basin were avoided by climbing the class III (west) ridge to the summit. Beautiful views were enjoyed despite the wind which built as we gained elevation. Three intrepid climbers pressed on for the long ridge walk to summit Crowfeet Mtn, despite 40-50 mph winds, while the remainder of the group made a hasty descent to the Iceberg-Ptarmigan trail. The day was enjoyed by all.
