This proved to be another great, early season warm up climb. Normally a half day climb, with the limited Chief Mountain Border Crossing hours, this worked well so that members were able to cross the border in the morning and before closing on the same day.

We took the west ridge route from the Crandell Lake Trailhead. It is a good, steep climbers' trail to the ridge. The early season snow on most peaks made for a long, lovely ridge walk to the summit. Crandall is out far enough from many other peaks so that on a bluebird day, there are stunning views of Waterton, Cleveland, and northern Glacier.

The summit is unusual with a helicopter landing pad and lots of Parks Canada radio equipment on the top.

Trip was a bit over 7 miles, 3,600', and took about 5.5 hours.
