Write Up:
A great day in the mountains with great people. We started from the Firebrand Pass trailhead (MM203) around 8:30 and were back at 5PM. A breezy and smoke hazy day. We stayed on the Autumn Creek trail, heading east until the first opening in the trees that would take us up towards open hillsides below Calf Robe Mountain. This path takes a climber across the famous Lewis Thrust Fault. Below the Altyn rock cliffs we traversed west to the lowest notch between Calf Robe and the Mummy head. We descended into the Skeleton basin, staying south of the krumholtz forest that occupies that basin. Debris Creek still had plenty of water to filter and refill water bottles. We climbed to the top of the highest point on the Skeleton ridge from the saddle between the two high points. We then traversed to the other end high point. The group descended the scree slope below this highpoint. A beautiful water cascade allowed us to refill water. We then scrambled back up to our original track and retraced that track back to our vehicles. Thanks to all who signed up!
