Write Up:
Great day with 10 total climbers, all summitted! 10.3 miles R/T, 5490' Elevation gain, 13 hours for the slower group (on member slowed us by about 3 hours, however, so it could go much faster). Excellent weather. Really fun climb. Recommendation: Every report and track seems to start up at the pit toilet behind Virginia Falls. We did so and found an good elk trail right off the bat, but blowdown caused us to quickly lose it. On the descent we found it much better to work down through the forest further west, close to Virginia Creek, where there is an excellent elk trail well used by people. Once you enter the forest, follow the forested cliff to the west, then descend. After navigating some alder, you will find the elk trail, which eventually descends the cliffs next to the falls (on their east side) and is excellent. Also, before hitting the forest on the descent, staying somewhat high in the krumholtz will allow you to follow openings all the way through it, rather than fighting your way through.
