Write Up:
Three days before this climb was scheduled I hiked in to Gunsight Lake to check the trail/mountain conditions and found that the avalanche covering the trail would slow us down to the point of not being able to complete the climb in one day. Being GMS week communications was difficult so, we met at the pre-arranged location for Jackson then decided to see where the wind would take us.

We drove down to Rising Sun and headed up the Rose Creek trail. About 4 miles in we saw a wonderful point of a cliff band above us. We walked around the point and climbed the back side and walked the top of it over to Rose Ridge, then headed East. We visited several unnamed points including 8486, crossed the arete over to East Flattop’s summit and another point that looks like the western most point of Singleshot but is actually more connected to East Flattop waved at the cars passing below Singleshot. It was a very hot day with an unrelenting sun, we refilled many water bottles from snow patches in the various saddles along the way. We ended by summiting Okotomi, dropped off the west side and returned to the Rose Creek trail and Rising Sun. 15 miles, 7000 feet, and 11 hours later. The ice cold beer at the tail gate tasted extra good this day.
