The group of 9 met at 0500 in the pre dawn darkness at the Marias Pass trailhead and shortly after daybreak were on the lower slopes of Little Dog practicing self arrest. After crossing a nasty scree slope, they continued the ascent of the steeper snow slopes on the top 1/2 of the mountain as 2 rope teams in short rope mode. Up to the ridge and then onto a narrow snow and ice filled gulley on the NE side of Little Dog to the summit. The entire group rapped down (for many it was their first time in a harness and on rappell) the gulley to the ridge and then were lowered off the ridge. We returned to the parking lot around 1600.
