Sun, Jun 10 2012 - Lion Creek Hike (changed from Warrior Mountain) (View Original Event Details)

Coordinator(s): Jim, Paul Cogswell
Participants:Laurel R. Vielle, Sue Shannon, Jason Wilkes, Stephen Smith, Carly Hohf, Paul Cogswell, Brad Moehlmann, Frank Wesolovski, Jim Boyer, Caroline Clemans

Write Up:
10 of the most unstoppable, determined GMSers showed up in spite of the clouds, the rain and the gloom. Rather than spend time on the long gravel Napa Point Road to walk in what was surely new wet snow and whiteout, the Warrior climb was nixxed and the group headed a short way to the south for the Lion Creek trailhead. The Lion Creek Trail goes east into a big valley in the Swan Range, following the creek through rock formations, with wildflowers, cedar forests, waterfalls (and on this day, mud). As it turned out though, the hiking was quite pleasant. The rain subsided except for some showers from time to time, and the rock, plantlife, and watercourses provided visual stimulation in the immediate vicinity which made up for the lack of any expansive views. The time from start to finish was just over 8 hours. Everyone seemed happy with how the most was made out of the day and enjoyed festivities afterward.
