Write Up:
GMS'ers George and Connie Schuler and John Burnham and guest climbers, Josh Lancaster and Eric Kunik enjoyed beautiful weather for their climb of Stanton Mtn. We left the Trout Lake Trailhead at 8:40 a.m. and made the summit at 1:28 p.m. Views of the Western side of the park with Lake McDonald below, Mt. Vaught looming nearby and Mt. Brown across the lake were spectacular. We were back at our cars by 4:40 p.m. From the top of Howe Ridge we missed the "unofficial" trail through the bushwack out onto the open terrain of the SW Ridge, but picked it up after just a short way. It made going a lot easier and we made sure we used it up on the way down. When we got back to Howe ridge we saw the beginning of this trail--just about 10 feet before the Howe Ridge Fire Trail sign! It was a great day with a great group.
