Prior to the Pollock and Bishop Cap climb on Friday of GMS week I arranged to do a preclimb and Nathan Carlsen from Wisconsin volunteered so I can take the last person on the waiting list. The preclimb day started with sun and a few clouds. We followed Blake Passmore’s route description. We got through the Great Clift and to the summit. Weather moved in with lighting, we descended quickly as hailstones, and pouring rain drenched us. When we got to Lunch Creek, we heard of the landslide on the other side of the divide. Friday the day of the climb weather again was a threat but held off to 5pm allowing us to complete the days objectives. When we got to the summit of Pollock you can see weather building in the distant so the faster and fit climbers proceeded to climb Bishops Cap. Upon their return, we descended via the SE corner, which is very exposed. Recommend to stick with the Great Cleft route for safer descent. We got the parking at Lunch Creek and a great tailgate and the rain came 20 minutes later. Thanks to Leslie for huckleberry brownies and Jane for the chocolate chip cake. Thanks to the entire team for a successful day.
