Sawtooth Mountain (replaced Arsenic Mountain) – September 8, 2012 Coordinators: Matt Marcinek and Lisa Easton Again in 2012, Matt Marcinek and Lisa Easton scheduled a weekend climb based in the Sun Canyon area of the Rocky Mountain Front. Climbers gathered at a cozy area cabin for a Friday evening potluck. Smoky conditions to the west and north convinced the group to substitute the nearby north peak of Sawtooth Mountain for the original goal, Arsenic Mountain, nine miles to the north. The group accessed Sawtooth from its northern flank, crossed a scree field to its western face and ascended a ridge to the northernmost summit. The descent down the northwestern side of the mountain included a long, satisfying glissade. A relaxing evening at the cabin followed. Participants were: Tim Sharp, Matt Marcinek, Jim Young, Lisa Easton, Bill Schulz, Larry Hiller and Allison Milodragovich. Have some photos from this event that you'd like to share in our photo album? Please forward them to Tim Anderson at twamontana@gmail.com. Please note that we prefer to receive the photos in approximately 640x480 or 750x500 pixels - do NOT send original high-res photos. If you have a LOT of photos, please submit up to twenty of your favorites (only) for a day event, or up to forty of your favourites for a multi-day event. Thank you. |
