Write Up:
15 GMS members went on this 4-hour ski tour that started and finished at Stephen and Jodi Smith's house. We ascended about 1,300 ft through forest where we breaked at the ridgetop, and then we skied down a basin that had a mixture of powder and crust - not the greatest conditions for this trip. Back at the house, we enjoyed refreshments furnished by several of the participants. Then, the real entertainment began: a "high-pointing" contest was held and James Hulvat was declared victor (you must see the photos to appreciate this). A ping-pong tournament of sorts ensued afterwards, and apparently it was a draw among the teams and rather competitive. Overall, it was a fun day in spite of the less favorable ski conditions, and the social event afterwards was memorable.
