Snowshoe hike to Bison Summit started at 0830 from East Glacier. Hiked the Scenic Point Trail just past Bald Hill and ascended through the trees to the tree line. The temperature was in the mid 30’s and the snow was wet. The day's forecast was calling for winds 20 mph with gusts up to 40, but we had gusts up to 60 on the summit. We started with 13 and 9 summited. Some were not comfortable with the winds and turned back 1.3 miles short of the summit. The last 1.3 miles was a boot-hike on bare rocks to summit. Very little snow for snow shoes. It was a 10.3 mile day with elevation gain of 3235 feet. A good day in spite of the brutal wind. Bison Summit-photo list: Louis Hatch, Jason Glenn, Laurie Lintner, Dennis Twohig, Steve Patitsas, James Boyer, Diane Lundgren, David Schuler, Jason Wilkes.
