Write Up:
This was another fun winter social event on Teakettle Mountain, this time hosted by Dan and June Diamond at their lodge, Mountain Timbers. Dan maintains over 5 miles of cross-country trails on his property, all of which are accessed directly from the lodge. The GMS group skied most of them while it snowed in the morning - no views were had on this day due to overcast skies, but we enjoyed skiing on both groomed and ungroomed trails, passing by old bear dens in bases of burned-out larch from the 1929 Half Moon Fire. We then enjoyed lunch consisting of June Diamond's vegetable soup and other dishes furnished by the participants. Apres ski events at GMS members' houses are becoming rather popular, but they still would have a hard time competing with Bruce and Rhonda White's trailhead celebrations!
