Gorgeous day for a trip up Holland Peak. Standing 9356’, this rugged peak is the high point in the Swan Range. This isn’t a long hike covering about 9 miles round trip, but is quite a grind at times. Six GMS hikers enjoyed climbing the 5000 ft to the summit in less than 4 ½ miles. Some sections feel straight up the mountain. Although we experienced some wind gusts, the day was incredibly sunny providing stunning views of the Swan, Missions, Bob Marshall Wilderness, and GNP. We spotted the beginnings of a forest fire near Hungry Horse Reservoir. Holland’s ridgeline and summit and the fun hiking companions, made this trip one of the best of the summer!
