Seven climbers attended the Garden Wall Loop event on Wednesday of Glacier Mountaineering Week 2013. An early start was required to have parking at Logan Pass. From the pass the group took an old trail east and into lunch creek which makes for a good warmup, maintaining elevation and world class views from the get go. Approaching the pass between Mt. Pollock and Mt. Piegan the intended route appeared snowchoked so the group fanned out choosing from the many alternate routes ones to their own liking. Regrouping and having snackies at the saddle everyone gathered their wits for the Great Cleft which was ascended easily and the summit of Mt. Pollock attained. After another short break in the action some took the direct route for Bishop's Cap and others did the scenic cruise along the top of the Garden Wall. The Bishop's Cap summit option was exercised by those with the courage and then all took the gully for the downclimb to the Highline Trail. Closing the loop at Logan Pass, refreshments were waiting and another great day in Glacier was celebrated with friends old and new. Have some photos from this event that you'd like to share in our photo album? Please forward them to Tim Anderson at twamontana@gmail.com. Please note that we prefer to receive the photos in approximately 640x480 or 750x500 pixels - do NOT send original high-res photos. If you have a LOT of photos, please submit up to twenty of your favorites (only) for a day event, or up to forty of your favourites for a multi-day event. Thank you. |
