Coordinator: Greg Notess It was a beautiful, blue-sky day with great views into Waterton and northern Glacier. From a pullout nine miles north of Chief Mountain customs, we took the unofficial but quite good trail south for about one and a half miles to the base of Sofa. We ascended the north ridge and made our way to the summit, past a surprised herd of sheep. From the broad summit, we descended a variant route taking the ridge to the northwest and down on the ridge on the other side of the valley to get back to the trail. Nine miles and 3,700-foot elevation gain. Larry Hiller, Cecelia Notess and Greg Notess. Have some photos from this event that you'd like to share in our photo album? Please forward them to Tim Anderson at twamontana@gmail.com. Please note that we prefer to receive the photos in approximately 640x480 or 750x500 pixels - do NOT send original high-res photos. If you have a LOT of photos, please submit up to twenty of your favorites (only) for a day event, or up to forty of your favourites for a multi-day event. Thank you. |
