GMSers, Jane London, Dennis Eaves, Nancy Riva, Keith Kratzer and John Burnham enjoyed a fun hike up Elk Mountain on Sunday, July 28, 2013. A gray sky early in the morning made the day's climb look "iffy", but by the time we had met at mile marker 192 on Route 2 to begin the hike, the sun was out and it seemed a bit cooler than previous days--just perfect! The group enjoyed taking time to observe and share nature lore on the various plants and animals that were encountered such as arrow leaf balsam, spruce grouse and doodlebugs. The view of Mt St Nicholas was fantastic. It was a fine day. John Burnham, coordinator. Have some photos from this event that you'd like to share in our photo album?
