It's been a long time since we have had a GMS ice climbing event. After this years well attended and enjoyable one, we hope to do this again next year. The Koocanusa road cut ice offers a easy place to try some interesting ice climbs. We got going with three top ropes set up around noon and everyone was able to get plenty of climbs. The climbs ranged from WI-2 to WI-4 and from 45' to 95'. There was even some chances to top rope a little mixed or very thin climbing. A great introduction to some different styles and types of ice. We also were able to show some examples of screw placements and V thread building. Much thanks to Orrin for coordinating and setting up. Also a Rexford local Holt Stuart, was very generous and helped set up belay and instruct. Jack Beard Have some photos from this event that you'd like to share in our photo album? Please forward them to Tim Anderson at twamontana@gmail.com. Please note that we prefer to receive the photos in approximately 640x480 or 750x500 pixels - do NOT send original high-res photos. If you have a LOT of photos, please submit up to twenty of your favorites (only) for a day event, or up to forty of your favourites for a multi-day event. Thank you. |
