Square Peak - August 29, 2009 Coordinator: Brian Kennedy A flotilla of three canoes and one sea kayak carried eight GMSers five miles up Bowman Lake to the standard approach used to climb both Rainbow and Square peaks. The excellent game trail on the east side of the creek provided quick access to the boulder-strewn basin below Square. From there the route up a couloir narrowed at the top and avoiding loose rock was a challenge. Helmets proved to be a wise choice. After a snack on a flat spot above the couloir, it was an easy scramble up broken cliffs to the summit. A safer descent route brought the group back to the boats for the paddle home. Square Peak climbers were: Jerry Moore, Bruce White, Rhonda White, Denise Davies, Del Meuchel, Ken McDermott and Martin Valles.
